A Mother’s Gratitude: How Seraphim Promise Helped My Family Rebuild

There was a time in my life when I was homeless and struggling just to survive.

When I first came to Seraphim Promise, I was not seeking help for myself — I came for my grown children. As a mother, my biggest concern was making sure they had a safe place to stay so they could have the opportunity to build a better future for themselves.

I wanted them to have stability.
I wanted them to be able to get jobs.
I wanted them to have transportation.
I wanted them to eventually move into homes of their own.

At the time, I did not have a single cent to give the organization, but that did not stop them from helping my family.

Seraphim Promise welcomed my children into the program, and they remained there for 12 months. During that time, they were able to gain employment, become financially independent, purchase a vehicle, and eventually move into their own apartment.

Watching my children regain stability and confidence meant everything to me.

As for myself, I was not mentally or emotionally ready to begin the program alongside them. I was still struggling deeply with my own circumstances and mindset.

But even though I was not officially participating in the program, Ana never stopped checking on me.

She made sure I had blankets when I needed warmth.
She allowed me to shower when I had nowhere else to go.
She made sure I had a plate to eat.
Most importantly, she treated me with kindness, dignity, and compassion during one of the darkest times in my life.

Those small acts of care meant more than people realize.

When you are homeless, it is easy to feel invisible.
It is easy to feel forgotten.
But Seraphim Promise reminded me that people still cared.

I will forever be thankful to everyone at Seraphim Promise for the support they gave me and my family. Their kindness helped my children create a better future, and their compassion helped me hold on during a very difficult season of my life.

Sometimes helping a family does not always begin with money.
Sometimes it begins with love, patience, compassion, and simply refusing to give up on people.

That is what Seraphim Promise did for us.
